Character NAME: Simon Belmont
Canon & MEDIUM: Castlevania (Video game)
Canon PULL-POINT: Right before entering Dracula’s Castle (1691)
Character AGE: 22
Character ABILITIES:
Born into the Belmont family in 17th century Wallachia, in 1669, Simon had been raised since he was young to be a powerful warrior. His childhood was filled with training, so that he could properly stand up to carry the terrifying destiny of the Belmont family. He received the basics in education as a child, learning basic arithmetic as well as language (both reading and writing), leaving most of his time spent in interest of strengthening his body and accustoming himself to carrying the Vampire Killer whip.
By early adulthood, he stood as a tall, large and powerful member of the Belmont clan. He worked under the Church as a knight and exorcist (a line of work most members of the family undertook), being sent to battle any small dark forces that rose in the countryside of Wallachia, such as stray spirits, monsters, and even minor vampires. His experience as a hunter of darkness grew in this time. As the closing of the century came, the family knew the time for darkness to rise again was near.
It was not until Easter Day in the year of 1691, however, that the nemesis of House Belmont rose back to life, brought about by a dark cult ritual. While by no means the only member of the family who could fight in the year of 1691, Simon (now 22 years of age) was deemed the most capable and strongest warrior the family had, and armed with his whip and multitude of holy weapons, he set off to Castlevania alone, ready to defeat Count Dracula, and hopefully put him down for good.
Character PERSONALITY: Simon is best described as a humble, honest, but also rather brash individual. Though he stands as one of the mightiest warriors on the planet, he does not boast about his own strength or accomplishments, nor does he brag about the famous history of House Belmont. He chooses to simply think of himself as one who is doing his job to the best of his ability. He was raised hearing the stories of his ancestors and their comrades, and the battles they carried against the legions of darkness, always wondering if he would be able to hold a torch to their greatness. They are his idols, his standard of greatness, and as far as he is concerned, even with all his training, he must still continue to work harder to achieve it.
His honesty is heavily imbued in the manner in which he was raised as a child. The Belmont Family, having very close ties to the Church, are also very religious themselves. They were heavy practitioners of Christianity, causing them to be upstanding, honest believers, with Simon being no exception. He would be hard pressed to lie or commit sin in any situation, always aware that the Lord is watching him and wishing to uphold both his own honor as well as that of the Belmont family. Only in extreme cases would he be driven to lie.
However, his honesty and good intention does not necessarily make him easy to get along with. Simon is prone to be unintentionally rude with his words, holding truer to his code of honesty and any sort of social etiquette or form of brown nosing. He will not mince words when seeking to call someone out on their behavior, and people will find they need to word their questions carefully, lest he tell a truth they would rather not hear. This lack of filter in his personality applies as well to his actions. He would rather charge into a situation headstrong, and is not one to spend much time thinking. As far as he is concerned, he can force his way through most of his problems. And if he cannot, then more force must be required. Likewise, he is rather average in his intelligence, which explains his disdain towards formulating plans, as well as why he fights more by brute force and less by magic.
And of course, as a young vampire hunter, Simon is fearless when it comes to the many monsters and challenges he must face. His bravery is unmatched among his family, heightened by his desire to protect the family name, bring peace to the land, and measure up to the great heroes that came before him. Little can faze him, and even most surprises fail to achieve a satisfactory reaction from him. For this reason, he may come off as a bit stoic, constantly wearing a straight expression on his face, regardless of whether he is fighting a living nightmare or just walking into a surprise birthday party.
» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: Simon Belmont's chosen weapon is his own family heirloom, the Vampire Killer whip. Though it looks like an ordinary leather whip, it is an alchemic whip infused with the life force of Leon Belmont's fiance, Sara Trantoul. Having been bit by a vampire, she gave her life before it had fully succumbed to darkness in order to give Leon the ability to seek revenge and kill the vampire lord that turned her. Because of this magic, the whip (in the hand of a member of the Belmont line) can destroy creatures of darkness, as well as cause physical damage to normal humans. When held by a non-Belmont, however, it can harm the body, and prolonged use can gravely injure and even kill.
As the whip would evolve, its form would change to match it's new found strength. It would turn from a leather whip, to a chain whip, to a full-fledged Morning Star flail. At first, in leather form, it may only be able to seriously damage monsters, while not being lethal to normal humans. With the chain form, it becomes more damaging to a wider array of enemies, and by the time it becomes a Morning Star, it is a deadly weapon against any enemy, creature of darkness or even another human. Upon achieving the Morning Star incarnation, the whip will also take on the power of fire, becoming engulfed in flames at Simon's command to cause even more damage. In addition to new-found strength at every level, the whip would also grow in length, increasing Simon's range of attack.

Character NAME: Simon Belmont
Canon & MEDIUM: Castlevania (Video game)
Canon PULL-POINT: Right before entering Dracula’s Castle (1691)
Character AGE: 22
Character ABILITIES:
- Super Strength: The Belmont clan developed incredible physical strength over the course of centuries, aided in some part by the introduction of magic blood early in the family history when ancestor Trevor Belmont married sorceress Sypha Belnades. This physical strength is far beyond the capabilities of normal humans, necessary in order to fight the many powerful demons and monsters working under Dracula. Examples of what their physical strength allow include: higher jump heights, along with almost no recoil when leaping from greater heights, the ability to lift and move outstandingly heavy objects (such as boulders), and great hand-to-hand combat capabilities.
- Mastery over Weapons: While the main weapon of the House of Belmont is the Vampire Killer whip (explained further in the Chosen Weapon section), most members, especially those expected to fight Dracula, are trained in multiple weapon types, giving them great versatility. Specifically in Simon's case, he is trained in the use of swords, throwing knives, and axes, as well as magical weapons unique to the Belmont family such as the Cross boomerang and Holy Water.
